Jason Thomas Takes Second in Calgary, AB
6/28/2000
Recapped By: Carl Hein
Winning the top privateer award has it advantages.
Jason was benefactor of Team Blackfoot Honda out of Canada looking for a rider
to step in for the injured Jean Sebastien Roy. After a call from
Blackfoot Honda, a quick deal negotiated Jason decided to make the trip to
Canada for the race and ride the red machine in Sunday's event.
Jason took the bikes for a test ride and within a couple of
laps
felt right at home on the Honda! The next step was to
see if
he could ride it when the pressure is on. Sunday came
quickly
as Jason would be racing at Team's Blackfoot Honda's home
track. Jason was loose and hoping for top results.
Moto one saw Jason gate almost last in the holeshot.
Needless
to say Jason had his work cut out for him. With the
determi-
nation and heart he has shown all season Jason was able
to
work his way up to a fifth place finish. Not bad
considering the
quick change of scenery and bike he had to adapt too.
Moto two was quite wet but this didn't stop Jason.
Jason
hounded the second place rider (Marco Dube) and wouldn't
be
denied the second position as he finally passed Marco
to
finish second in the moto. This earned Jason a second
overall
and he was stoked. Jason may end up riding more for
Team
Blackfoot Honda. What his web site for details!
