Jason Thomas on his US Open Experience

Recapped By: Carl Hein
The Iron Man competed at the US OPEN of Supercross but all
was not as he hoped. Jason was riding an
YZ426, which was supplied, to him from Montclair Yamaha to compete in the four-stroke
class. With limited development time on
the bike “a few modifications were done at the last minute and the bike wasn’t
running how I expected on Friday night.
For the Saturday races we switch back to the standard in take air box
and the bike ran fine. The bad part
was my gate choices were very poor because of my Friday night performance. At this race I felt the inside starting
positions were a huge advantage and being on the outside you new were you would
end up. I was happier with Saturday, my
lap times were good and I was now clearing all the jumps with the bike running
correctly.
I will be running a Motocross school in Kentucky this
weekend and then getting ready for some races overseas.”
